INSPIRATION CORNER

Fear thou not; for I am with thee:be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.

Isaiah 41:10

Vision

To present Christ in a contemporary,
creative, credible and caring way to
all people in an environment where
people from the community can grow
to their full potential in Christ.

Mission

  • To know Him and make Him known
  • To reach the lost at any cost
  • To save the unsaved
  • To evangelize, exalt, edify, and equip
  • To seek the unsought, bring the
       unbrought, and teach the untaught
History
Our church was founded in 1938 with a membership of 27 that has grown exponentially over the years.
During our history the following served the congregation of New Liberty as pastor:

                                   J.B. Coates, 1941-1944
                                   E.A. Rundless II, 1945-1989
                                   J.L. Stevenson, 1990-2006

After a long search process that began in 2006, on April 9, 2008 the congregation selected its fourth pastor in the person of Rev. Dr. Maurice Stimage Jr.

Our first church home was purchased in 1938 at 4191 Russell Street. When we outgrew the sanctuary in 1940, we moved to 1015 Garfield Street. The sanctuary at 4600 Russell was purchased in May 1944. On November 15, 1953, the congregation formed a motorcade of over 100 cars to move from Russell Street to 4251 Fischer at East Canfield.

The Holy Spirit's increase in the number of saved souls joining New Liberty necessitated our moving into a larger edifice on December 3, 2000. A 200-vehicle motorcade brought us from Fischer to our current church home at 2965 Meldrum where the vision continues to unfold as we reach out making a bold statement about permanency, commitment, mutual aid,
and support of our community.
