Rev. Maurice Stimage, Jr.
Pastor

Pastor Maurice Stimage, Jr. is a Christian Educator and a Counselor, who is a catalyst for positive change through his dedication to teaching the scriptures.

 

Pastor Stimage recieved his B.A. degree in Business Administration from the former William Tyndale College of Farmington, Michigan. He continued his education by completing his Master of Arts, with an emphasis in Biblical Studies, at Ashland Theological Seminary, Ashland, Ohio. In 2010 Pastor Stimage recieved the Doctorate of Ministry Degree from Ecumenical Theological Seminary here in the city of Detroit, Michigan.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                             

Pastor Stimage proudly served six years in the United States Marine Corps Reserves where he received an Honorable Discharge.

 

Pastor Stimage surrendered his will to the Lord and accepted the call to ministry in 1987. Under the leadership of the late Rev. Dr. Eddie A. McDonald, then pastor of the Friendship Missionary Baptist Church of Pontiac, Michigan. Pastor Stimage was licensed and preached his first sermon December 13, 1987 entitled, "Questioning God's Authority," taken from Romans chapter 13. After a few years of faithful service, Pastor McDonald set in motion ordination for Pastor Stimage that took place August 23, 1992.

 

In December 2003 Pastor Stimage accepted the invitation of J.L. Stevenson, then Pastor of the New Liberty Baptist Church of Detroit, Michigan, to fill the role of Christian Education Director. Pastor Stimage served faithfully in that role until 2006, when he was called upon to serve as New Liberty's Interim Pastor. A pastoral search was underway, but God would have favor on Rev. Stimage as he received 76 percent of the 232 registered members that voted in April of 2008 and became the fourth pastor of the New Liberty Baptist Church.

 

Pastor Stimage born in Sedalia, Missouri and raised in Pontiac, Michigan, is the oldest of four children of the late Mr. Maurice Stimage, Sr. and Mrs. Carol S. (President) Stimage. He is married to Renita E. (Williams) Stimage of Detroit, Michigan. Pastor Stimage has 3 children from a previous marriage: Maurice Stimage III, Angela A.L. Stimage, and Shakaylea C. Stimage.

Pastor Stimage is certified by the National Baptist Convention, USA, Inc. and Sunday School Publishing Board to teach the following:
